About

What is Old Florida, and does it still exist?

The simplest definition is “pre-Disney”, but most would describe Old Florida as the way she was anytime before 1950. However, Old Florida is more than just a physical landscape or a moment in time, she is a unique personality all her own. She cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Hers is a wild and free spirit, like the Spanish moss that hang from the boughs of her majestic oaks. She is beauty, mystery, enchantment, and pure Southern charm. She embodies a character of community and sense of place. She is: history and heritage, citrus and beaches, gator wrestlin’ and frog gigging, starry nights and hard working days, cattle driving and cypress logging, front porches and steamboats. She is vanishing. Come join me as I embark on an adventure to find the last remnants of Old Florida!
